"Two hundred and fifteen rooms across from the Music City Center. Fifty thousand individually potted plants on the facade. Harriet's Rooftop has the best skyline view in downtown Nashville. One Michelin Key."
1 Hotel Nashville opened in July 2022 at 710 Demonbreun Street, directly across from the Music City Center and within walking distance of the Country Music Hall of Fame. The brand's first property in the South was designed around the surrounding Smoky Mountains and Cumberland River, with point logs in the lobby referencing Southern log cabin construction and compostable art in the hallways. The 56,000-plant facade is tended by a Nashville company that operates as the hotel's in-house plant team. All 215 rooms have in-room filtered water taps, shower timers, chalkboards instead of notepads, and bathrobes and slippers made from recycled materials.
THE PROPERTY
Demonbreun Street is Nashville's primary hotel and entertainment corridor, running between the Broadway honky-tonk district and the neighborhoods south of downtown. The Music City Center is directly across the street. The Country Music Hall of Fame is within walking distance to the west. The hotel's position at the corner of Demonbreun and 7th Avenue South puts it at the center of the city's commercial core without the intensity of the Broadway tourist circuit one block north.
LOBBY CULTURE
The lobby is built around the point-log installation referencing the Southern log cabin tradition, with biophilic materials and native greenery continuing the exterior's design language through the interior spaces. 1 Kitchen on the ground floor handles farm-to-table all-day dining with cold-pressed juices and a menu built on regional produce. Neighbors, the laid-back ground-floor cafe, handles more casual grab-and-go service. Harriet's Rooftop Bar is the building's social anchor, wellness cocktails made with in-house blended juices, Nashville skyline views in every direction, and the most consistent sunset position in downtown Nashville.
DESIGN NOTES
The biophilic design program runs through all 215 rooms with reclaimed wood, organic cotton linens, native greenery, and surfaces in organic materials throughout. Room size ranges from 372 square feet in the entry Cityscape King to 1,029 square feet in the Panoramic One-Bedroom Suite and 2,000 square feet in the Terrace House Suite with a private terrace and uninterrupted skyline views. The suite program escalates through the City Studio, Terrace Studio, Panoramic One-Bedroom, and Terrace House categories before reaching the Arbor House Suite.
BAR & SHARED SPACES
Harriet's Rooftop Bar handles the primary cocktail program with wellness-focused drinks made from fresh juices blended in-house and Nashville skyline views as the backdrop. 1 Kitchen on the ground floor is the farm-to-table anchor, with sourcing that extends to regional Tennessee producers. Neighbors handles morning and afternoon grab-and-go in a more casual register. The Bamford Wellness Spa provides treatment rooms alongside Anatomy's yoga studio and fitness center. Thirty-two thousand square feet of event space makes the hotel one of the largest meeting destinations in downtown Nashville.
1 Hotel Nashville opened in July 2022 as the city's first mission-driven luxury hotel. The 56,000-plant facade is maintained by a local Nashville company that became the hotel's in-house plant team. The hotel earned a Michelin Key in the inaugural Nashville guide.

ROOMS THAT MATTER
The 37 suites range from the City Studio Suite at entry level through the Terrace Studio Suite with private outdoor access, the Panoramic One-Bedroom at 1,029 square feet with the strongest skyline views in the standard suite program, and the Terrace House Suite at 2,000 square feet with a large private terrace and dining table. The Arbor House Suite is the hotel's most complete accommodation.
THE VERDICT
The most considered hotel in Nashville. The sustainability program is embedded in the materials, the operations, and the design, not performed. The 56,000-plant facade is the most memorable hotel exterior in Music City. Harriet's Rooftop is the right place to be at sunset in downtown Nashville. The Michelin Key confirms what the building communicates from the street.
Editor's Note
Nashville's most considered hotel. The sustainability program is embedded, not performed. Harriet's Rooftop at sunset earns the stay.
